Week 12: Community on the WWW
15 minutes: Overview of critique process and expectations for final critiques, as well as requirements (see below)
30 minutes: Discussion: Jay Rosen and Mattathias Schwartz, ethics of audience conduct and significance of audience. Bring some of these questions into the conversation:
1) How does running a blog or other participatory media form on the web differ from simply posting a website?
2) Has anyone in the class been discriminated against or “trolled” somehow online? Discuss…
3) Can the web be a dangerous space? How and why?
4) At this point in your life, do you perceive the web as a utopian universe, a dystopian paradox, or something in-between? Describe.
45 minutes: Studio workday.
Optional activity:

Look over study guide for your final examination (can be a casual oral, or written exam, based on instructor’s preference). Click for study guide and sample examination questions.
Finalize final web site for publication.
