Week 9: Using a WYSIWYG editor to align images and text

60 minutes: WSIWYG interfaces: Dreamweaver overview (Properties palette, how to insert images, sounds, and quicktime, etc.)

Demo tutorial 1: How to set up a table to align images and text. (Instructors, design your own tutorial, or feel free to CLICK TO DOWNLOAD WIRED TEST OUT MATERIALS. Instructors, there are also TABLE LECTURE NOTES HERE.)

Demo tutorial 2 (optional): How to use div tags to line up images and text. (Instructors, design your own tutorial, or feel free to display and explain the CSS on the stylesheets in this simple DIV tag demo: CLICK TO DOWNLOAD WIRED DIV TAG TUTORIAL HERE). There are lots of overviews of DIV tags online, see Webmonkey’s DIV tag overview.

Demo tutorial 3 (optional): Using the “Design” window review how to add a link using the Properties palette, how to insert an image, insert a quicktime movie, how to insert a sound file, etc.

Preparing an artist’s working sketchbook. Create a page called “RECENT WORK” or something similar linked to your index page to start to create a professional artist’s site.  Add a table to this page, or use div tags to show 8 images of recent work in this or in other classes.  Minimum requirement: 1 page with 8 images. Try to upload this to the ARTIC/WEBSPACES server. If you can’t take a screenshot of the page previewed in a browser and upload it to your blog.
