LL WEEK 3

Week 3: Collaborative Compositing and Time Machine

45 minutes: Review new layer, move tool, cut, copy, paste, selection tools, etc. Introduce other tools: layer mask, layer options, rubber stamp, gradient, paint bucket, etc.  Instructors might introduce their own customized Photoshop tutorial lessons here.  Optional PhotoShop erasing/compositing tutorial available here: GREEN GIANT TO GREEN BLIGHT.

30 minutes: Overview of what Photoshop Tennis is (discuss reading) and begin Photoshop Tennis assignment in class by selecting partners and a higher resolution image, one side at least 1200 pixels long.  Consider appropriating an image from Artstor as a background, or consider scanning a piece of your own original artwork to use as a base.

15 minutes: Time Machine demo/discussion (if not covered earlier): Bring firewire drives to class (PDF available online HERE.)

>Sketch 3: Photoshop Tennis in Chicago

Choose a partner in class to play a game of Photoshop tennis with thru email. You and your partner will be creating a single photo that uses imagery from each of your computers.

Flatten and save as JPEG before emailing each version of the composition.  Also, save an archive of ALL your emailed JPEGs.
UPLOAD the final image and some of the transition images to your blog and describe the process of collaboration.
